| San Blas Archipelago, Panama
Dec 28, 2007 - January 6, 2007! Kayaking to the San Blas Islands Rugged Tropical Sea Kayaking, Jungle Day Hikes, Camping We have found yet another undiscovered heaven for sea kayaking just a few hours flight from the US! This tropical paradise is the San Blas Islands off the Caribbean Coast of Panama, inhabited by the colorful, indigenous Kuna people. This paddling journey will take us 60–80 miles through a myriad of small coves and beaches, to lush jungles and remote, pristine outer reefs. And, in our style, the journey will include some resolute paddling to get us to a remote group of islands to the north that is rarely visited, even by the local people: the Cayos Holandes. The proud, matriarchic Kuna’s have succeeded in keeping these islands undisturbed by Western tourism development and have kept their culture and communities intact, thus giving us the rare opportunity to introduce you to these spectacular, unspoiled and remote Caribbean reef islands and jungles. We have obtained special permission from the local chiefs (sahilas) to paddle these islands—including the remote Cayos Holandes—accessible only by small STOL-flights and small boats — a true adventure mixing kayaking, nature and an old indigenous culture. See Itinerary, Details and Pricing email us to request a detailed itinerary for Panama’s Remote Cayos Holandes or call Castine Kayak Adventures at 207-659-4831.
