Karen Francoeur owner of Castine Kayak Adventures educational partner with Maine Maritime Academy A Master Maine Sea Kayak Guide and American Canoe Association Instructor, and British Canoe Union 4 Star. Karen has been promoting safe paddling through instruction for the past 15 years through courses, symposiums and the Paddle Smart Safety Symposium. Chris Raab owner of Tuktu Paddles started paddling in grade school and over the years progressed through solo and tandem white water canoeing on into canoe expeditions across the United States and Canada. In 1992 he began sea kayaking and quickly settled into the sea and surf as his primary interest. Chris is an ACA open water instructor trainer and BCU 4 paddler. In 2000 he picked up a Greenland paddle and soon became a traditional Greenland skills instructor trainer and founded Tuktu Paddles. Chris has been a instructor and guide with outdoor discovers schools of Maine, has appeared at symposiums around the country and, worked with many area clubs and organization to promote paddle sports. www.tuktupaddles.com
Ken Fink, Owner of Poseiden Kayak Imports in Walpole offering navigation and wind and waves workshops Ken has been kayaking in Maine for 30 years, and all over the world. Fink has been selling collapsible kayaks out of his home for more than 20 years and teaching the fine art paddling with an emphasis on navigation and paddling in conditions! A man of many stories!
Jeff Strout, Maine Sea Kayak/Rec Guide, Outdoor Writer/Editor Bangor Daily News. has been guiding with Castine Kayak since day one! Jeff is the personal publicist for Castine Kayak and for the paddle industry including Maine Sea Kayak Guides Association in Maine. An analytical thinker, Jeff is a pro at analyzing and conveying the finer points of Paddling Technique, and Maritime Skills. He is a major gear Geek and loves to share the latest of gadgets and clothing designs with paddlers and readers.
Bob Myron, Of Outdoor Leaders of America A Coastal Kayak Instructor Trainer Educator for the American Canoe Association, Bob trains Instructor Trainers, Instructors and entry level kayakers. A Registered Maine Guide for 20 years, and a Wilderness First Responder, Bob has led wilderness canoe trips in the Allagash region of Maine, taught prep courses for becoming a Maine Guide and trained instructors from Maine to Maryland. Bob has also participated in the British Canoe Union workshops including 5 star training. Bob owns and operates Outdoor Leader Trainers of America in Durham Maine.
Andrea Reny, Maine Sea Kayak Guide/Instructor/Teacher and Naturalist is a Naturalist Extraordinaire! She has shared her love of the natural world with paddlers for years guiding in the San Juans, Alaska, Baja Peninsula and Maine! Andrea will be leading folks on intertidal explorations and birding observations while paddling!
Deb Merrill Maine Sea Kayak Guide/Chemistry Teacher and Geologist has been guiding with Castine Kayak for the past 5 years. Deb has paddled Alaska, Florida, the Baja and more and done extensive exploration in the West. A natural instructor, Deb will shares her humor and love of the outdoors and water with paddlers of all skill levels!.
